Where you’ll train
UKFor this workshop we’re at the British School of Osteopathy (BSO)Teaching Centre.

A comprehensive workbook accompanies the day and a certificate of attendance is awarded. In addition to this, we automatically and informally assess all attendees. This ensures that you have reached a good understanding of the subject and are able to apply techniques safely and effectively. 

 

What you’ll learn:

Want to know why clients get neck and back pain? After revising the anatomy and physiology of the vertebral column Jane Johnson, Chartered Physiotherapist, will help you to identify and explain the pathology of common back and neck problems. You’ll be getting active, applying and receiving a variety of treatments for specific problems.

What you’ll learn:
The big picture

How to name/number every vertebrae in the spine
How to identify spinous processes
How to locate C6 and C7 and know roughly where to find L4 on a client
How to identify common areas of spinal pain
Understand why pain occurs in these areas
Understand the difference between kyphosis, lordosis and scoliosis
To carry out a treatment plan for: kyphosis, whiplash, torticollis/wry neck and low back pain
To perform effective passive and active spinal stretches
To perform Soft Tissue Release on levator scapulae
To perform safe PNF stretches to erector spinae
To apply a range of advanced back massage techniques through a towel, on dry skin and with oil.
