Who's it for?

Accredited by the FHT and STO - Advanced Training, 5 credits.

As much of the practice is done through clothing, this workshop is suitable for anyone qualified, or about to qualify in massage or sports massage, sports rehabilitation, sports therapy, physiotherapy, chiropractic, osteopathy and other bodyworkers who have studied anatomy and physiology, such as fitness instructors, teachers of pilates or yoga.

Trigger point therapy is a recognised National Occupational Standard (NOS) for sports therapy as set out by Skills Active. (D522)

Attendees receive a comprehensive set of handouts and certificate of attendance and are informally assessed to ensure competency.

On this introductory workshop for therapists with little knowledge of trigger points, Jane Johnson, Chartered Physiotherapist will have you getting hands-on and learning:
The anatomy and physiology of trigger points and why they occur.
Locate and treat trigger points on all the major muscles of the body.

The big picture

By the end of the day you will be able to:

Explain what a trigger point is and how it develops (in terms of muscle physiology).
Be able to identify a trigger point using palpation. 
Know how to treat trigger points in all major muscles using manual therapy.
Understand about referred pain in relation to trigger points.
Incorporate trigger points into a massage.
